There is a small U.S. military presence at the American embassy in Ukraine, providing security services and working on accountability of the material that is going in and out of Ukraine, but not fighting on the battlefield, according to White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby.
The White House National Security Council spokesman, John Kirby, has confirmed that there is a small U.S. military presence at the American embassy in Ukraine, in conjunction with the Defense Attaché’s office. This comes after leaked Pentagon documents suggested that U.S. Special Forces are operating in Ukraine. Kirby stated that the troops at the embassy are not fighting on the battlefield and provide security services. The Pentagon confirmed in November that U.S. forces were on the ground to inspect American military aid deliveries in Ukraine. Kirby also addressed the leak of classified U.S. documents, which may have come from outside the Pentagon. A criminal investigation is ongoing.
