Ukraine’s 47th Mechanized Brigade, supported by other units, successfully repelled a large Russian attack in Kursk Oblast.
The offensive, led by the 155th Naval Infantry Brigade and 106th Airborne Division, targeted Ukrainian defenses near Sudzha and Leonidovo, involving around 50 armored vehicles, including tanks, IFVs, and buggies.
In response, Ukrainian forces used artillery, drones, and anti-tank munitions to destroy multiple Russian vehicles. The 47th Brigade reported 45 Russian soldiers killed and 53 wounded during the engagement.

A U.S.-supplied M1 Abrams tank operated by the 47th Brigade was reportedly destroyed during the battle. Reports suggest the tank may have been intentionally targeted by a Ukrainian drone to prevent its capture by Russian forces.
Since 2023, the 47th Brigade has lost at least 17 Abrams tanks, with others damaged or abandoned.
The Russian assault coincided with a Ukrainian operation aimed at advancing in the Kursk region, including an attempt to capture the village of Berdin. However, Ukrainian forces faced stiff resistance, and the village remained contested. Both sides appear to have suffered significant losses in recent offensives.
