U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Friday that its forces carried out a successful strike in Eastern Syria, killing a member of an ISIS attack cell. The operation took place on Wednesday as the individual was in the process of planting an improvised explosive device (IED), intended for a planned attack against Coalition and Partner Forces in the region.
According to CENTCOM, the strike prevented a potential threat to both U.S. and allied military personnel working in Syria. The targeted ISIS operative was actively engaged in hostile actions when U.S. forces neutralized the threat.
