Palestinians held rare protests against Hamas in northern Gaza on Tuesday, demanding an end to the war and the group’s rule over the territory.
Videos circulating on social media showed crowds chanting “Hamas is a terrorist organization” as hundreds gathered across multiple locations, calling for the group’s surrender.

These protests are the largest seen against Hamas since the October 7, 2023, attacks on Israel. Hamas took control of Gaza in 2007 after winning elections and a brief conflict with rival faction Fatah.

The protests come amid the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. At least 91 Palestinians have been killed and dozens more wounded since Israel’s military campaign resumed last week. The United Nations said 124,000 people have been displaced since the war in Gaza resumed.
Aid groups have warned that conditions are deteriorating rapidly after Israel halted aid deliveries in early March following the collapse of ceasefire talks.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine Refugees reported Sunday that no food, water, fuel, or medicine has entered Gaza in three weeks.
“Banning aid is a collective punishment on Gaza,” UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini said, urging an end to the blockade. He called for the immediate release of all hostages and the large-scale, uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid and commercial supplies.
“Every day that passes without aid means more children go to bed hungry, diseases spread, and deprivation deepens,” Lazzarini said.
It’s been three weeks since the Israeli Authorities banned the entry of supplies to #Gaza.
