Michael Collazo, a Marine veteran and patrolman with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, helped to stop a shooter at a Christian elementary school in Nashville. Three children and three adults were killed in the incident. Collazo, along with other police officers and first responders, were praised for their quick response in ending the danger. Footage from Collazo’s body camera was released by Nashville police, showing him coordinating room-to-room searches with fellow police officers and firing on the shooter, who was later identified as a former student of the school. Collazo received a commendation award from the Nashville police department in 2021 and is expected to receive a lifesaving award in April for an event that took place in 2022.Â
