Shadow Seal, JFD’s innovative four-man tactical diving platform for naval special forces, delivers exceptional underwater flexibility and adaptability to meet a wide range of ISTAR and combat requirements.
JFD, part of James Fisher and Sons, has unveiled its advanced four-man tactical diving platform, Shadow Seal, for naval special forces. The platform is a lightweight Tactical Diving Vehicle (TDV) that can transport a pilot, navigator, and two passengers in surface, semi-submerged, and submerged modes with a range of 80nm. Shadow Seal offers unparalleled underwater maneuverability, and it is adaptable to suit a variety of ISTAR and combat requirements. JFD has partnered with Blue Tide Marine (BTM) to deliver the first production model of Shadow Seal to provide local demonstration and training services. JFD and BTM have been working closely during production at JFD’s facility in Glasgow, UK, and final in-water trials are currently underway before delivery to BTM in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the coming months. JFD will continue to offer support and training as the craft is delivered to the US. Shadow Seal was first developed by Ortega Submersibles in the Netherlands, which was acquired by JFD in 2019 and has since undergone further development and rigorous trials.
