The Israeli Border Police and Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have released footage from an operation in the Kasbah (Old City) of Nablus. Israeli security forces arrested a senior terrorist suspect at a cafe in Nablus in the West Bank. The operation was carried out by the Israel Border Police and the Israel Defense Forces on the evening of January 2, based on intelligence provided by the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet).
The undercover forces, operating covertly, successfully entered the cafe undetected and arrested the unnamed suspect on-site.

As the team withdrew, they encountered violent resistance from local rioters. Attackers hurled explosive devices, Molotov cocktails, and stones at the retreating forces while also opening fire. In response, the Israeli troops employed live ammunition to neutralize several assailants, allowing for their safe extraction from the area.
The arrested individual has since been transferred to the custody of the Shin Bet for further interrogation. Israeli officials have not disclosed the suspect’s identity or the specific charges against him, citing operational security concerns.
In a separate operation on the same night, IDF, Shin Bet, and Border Police forces conducted a raid in the village of Bal’a, near Tulkarem in Samaria.
They demolished the home of terrorist Muhammad Abu Yassin, a member of the terrorist cell behind the November 2, 2023, attack at Beit Lid Junction. The attack led to the death of Staff Sgt. (res.) Elhanan Ariel Klein and the wounding of four Border Police officers.
