A senior Iranian military commander has expressed a desire to launch another attack on Israel, following a significant missile and drone strike in April. Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the Aerospace Division of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), conveyed this intention during a meeting with families of Hamas fighters killed in Gaza.
Hajizadeh referred to the potential future operation as “True Promise 2,” building on the previous “Operation True Promise,” which saw over 300 missiles and drones targeting Israel on April 13. Despite the large-scale assault, the majority of these projectiles were intercepted by a coalition led by the United States. The April attack was reportedly in retaliation for an Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, which resulted in the deaths of seven IRGC officers.
In his remarks, Hajizadeh highlighted Iran’s support for militant groups in the region, including Hamas and Hezbollah. He emphasized that the weaponry used by these groups was provided by Iran.Â
As Iran continues to advance its nuclear program, accumulating significant stockpiles of enriched uranium, concerns over regional stability persist. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that Iran’s stockpile of 60%-enriched uranium has increased, nearing levels that could enable the production of nuclear weapons.
