During a prolonged 12-hour military operation in the West Bank town of Dayr al-Ghusun near Tulkarem, Israeli forces killed five Palestinian gunmen, all members of a terror cell linked to recent attacks. The operation, which occurred on Saturday, also left an officer from the Israeli police’s elite Yamam counter-terrorism unit seriously injured. The raid targeted a group accused of killing an Israeli civilian and wounding others in prior incidents in the West Bank, and which was reportedly planning further attacks.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) employed a range of tactics during the engagement, including a method known as “pressure cooker,” designed to escalate force to compel suspects to surrender. The operation involved the use of armored bulldozers, shoulder-launched missiles, and strikes by a Hermes 450 drone. In addition to neutralizing the terror cell, Israeli forces captured weaponry and arrested an additional member of the cell.
