Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has reportedly died following an Israeli airstrike on his hideout in Lebanon. Israel’s Channel 12 reported that the 64-year-old suffocated due to toxic fumes in an underground bunker after the airstrike, rather than from the blast itself.
Nasrallah’s body was reportedly intact when recovered, indicating that Nasrallah likely died slowly as smoke and fumes filled the room where he was hiding.

Israel has not officially confirmed the cause of death but announced via social media platform X, formerly Twitter, that Nasrallah had been “eliminated,” along with other Hezbollah leaders, including Ali Karki, Commander of Hezbollah’s Southern Front.
While Nasrallah had been a controversial figure, leading Hezbollah for 32 years and maintaining close ties with Iran, his death has led to speculation about who will succeed him. Hashem Safieddine, head of Hezbollah’s executive council, is seen as the likely successor, although no official appointment has been made.
