Authorities believe the suspect may have been targeting the consulate, which was closed at the time for a memorial commemorating the 1972 Munich Olympics attack, where 11 Israeli athletes were killed by Palestinian militants. Investigators have confirmed the man had potential links to Islamist extremism and had been previously investigated in Austria for radicalization. No other suspects are believed to be involved, and an investigation is ongoing.
