A Massachusetts Air National Guard soldier, age 21, has been detained for allegedly leaking sensitive information.
A 21-year-old member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard, Jack Teixeira, has been arrested by federal authorities in connection with an investigation into leaked classified documents. FBI agents arrested Teixeira at a residence in North Dighton, Massachusetts, where he was taken into custody “without incident”. The documents in question exposed potentially hundreds of pages of intelligence about Russian efforts in Ukraine and spying on US allies. President Joe Biden suggested officials were nearing a breakthrough in their investigation earlier in the day, and two White House officials later confirmed that the president had been briefed about Teixeira’s arrest. The investigation remains ongoing.
