China has introduced the UR6000, a large tiltrotor drone developed by United Aircraft Corporation, capable of vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL). The first prototype was showcased on October 11, 2024, at the Wuhu United Aircraft Production Workshop in Anhui province.
听都没听说过!全球首款6吨级倾转旋翼飞行器日前下线,代号“斓影R6000”,可载10人,最大航程1500公里,巡航时速550公里。哪位大神点评一下? pic.twitter.com/m2btWh5S7j

The UR6000, also known as the Lanying R6000 (Lanthanum Shadow), has a maximum takeoff weight of 6 tons and can carry a payload of up to 2 tons or transport 10 passengers. The drone boasts a range of 2,400 miles (4,000 kilometers), a top speed of 340 mph (550 kilometers per hour), and can operate at altitudes up to 25,000 feet.
The UR6000’s design features tiltrotor technology similar to the U.S. Bell V-280 Valor, where only the front portion of the nacelles tilts. This allows it to combine the vertical lift of a helicopter with the high-speed cruising capabilities of fixed-wing aircraft. The tiltrotor configuration is designed to enhance performance and reduce mechanical complexity.
While United Aircraft has emphasized civilian applications for logistics, emergency response, and passenger transport, the drone’s capabilities have drawn attention for potential military use. A photo of the prototype featured markings of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA), hinting at its possible future military role.

The UR6000’s development is part of China’s push to expand its low-altitude aviation industry, which is projected to grow into a multi-billion-dollar sector by 2030. United Aircraft, a private company, has been involved in China’s military-civilian integration strategy, contributing to both civilian and military projects
