Ukrainian soldiers have captured one of the Russian soldiers responsible for the death of three unarmed Ukrainian prisoners in Donetsk region. The incident, which took place on Sunday, was captured on video by a drone operated by Ukraine’s 12th Special Forces Brigade, part of the National Guard. The footage shows Russian soldiers shooting the unarmed Ukrainian prisoners at close range, according to a statement from the brigade.

The man, identified as Vyacheslav Delyagin, a member of Russia’s Storm Battalion, admitted during interrogation that his unit had received direct orders to execute Ukrainian prisoners of war rather than take them captive.
“There’s no time to deal with prisoners. Don’t take any prisoners,” Delyagin quoted his superiors as saying. He further explained that after capturing three Ukrainian fighters, his unit received orders via radio to shoot them, which they then carried out.
Delyagin was captured by the 12th Azov Special Forces Brigade, along with the 49th Separate Assault Battalion.
As of now, Ukrainian officials, including Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, have not publicly commented on this latest case. The Ukrainian military and international human rights organizations are expected to investigate the footage and Delyagin’s testimony as part of broader efforts to hold Russian forces accountable for war crimes in Ukraine.
