Special forces in the Belarusian army of President Alexander Lukashenko are conducting drills in forest combat while paratroopers nearby practice jumping from aircraft. Belarus, a former Soviet country, has been ruled by Lukashenko for nearly three decades, and he has allowed Russia to use his country as a launching pad for its military operation against Ukraine. Tensions have been building amid fears that Belarusian troops could also intervene in Ukraine. The Special Operations Forces of Belarus have said that they are ready to fulfil any tasks, including the most difficult ones if required. The troops conducting drills are part of the 38th Separate Guards Air Assault Brigade and their training ground lies just four kilometers from EU and NATO member Poland and 50 kilometers from Ukraine
