Today, an organized attempt by more than 250 illegal migrants originating from Africa and the Middle East to storm the Polish border from Belarus was thwarted by Polish authorities. The migrants, seeking to cross into Poland, were met by riot police and army units, which managed to push them back into Belarusian territory.Â
Polish officials have attributed the coordinated nature of these migration attempts to a strategy of hybrid warfare, purportedly employed by Russia and Belarus. By facilitating or directing large groups of migrants towards EU borders, it is argued, these countries aim to exert political and social pressure on European nations.Â
