A video journalist working for Agence France-Presse, Arman Soldin, was killed by rocket fire near Chasiv Yar in eastern Ukraine on May 9, 2023. Soldin was with a team of four colleagues and Ukrainian soldiers when they were attacked. The team included a security adviser, but no one else was injured. Soldin is the 17th journalist to be killed in Ukraine since 2022. He regularly reported from the front lines and was one of the agency’s first journalists to arrive in Ukraine after Russia’s full-scale invasion. Soldin was known for sharing lighter moments from the front lines, such as rescuing an injured hedgehog found after Russian shelling in Chasiv Yar. France’s president, Emmanuel Macron, paid tribute to Soldin on Twitter, calling him courageous and committed.Â
