The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released footage today showing a military operation involving the crossing of the border fence into southwest Gaza by elements of the 162nd “Ha-Plada” Division. This division, comprising the 401st “Iron Tracks” Armor Brigade and the 84th “Givati” Brigade, began a combat operation on Monday night aimed at capturing the Rafah Border Crossing with Egypt. The forces included Merkava III and IV Main Battle Tanks, Puma Armored Engineering Vehicles, and Namer Armored Personnel Carriers.

Concurrently, the IDF, in coordination with the Shin Bet security service, carried out a targeted airstrike in central Gaza, resulting in the death of Ahmed Ali, the commander of the Hamas Naval Forces based in Gaza City. Ali was reportedly involved in planning and executing several terrorist attacks against IDF troops in the Netzarim Corridor.
