Houthi forces in Yemen have reported the destruction of an MQ-9 Reaper drone, an American military surveillance asset, near the Red Sea port of Hodeidah. The group released footage purportedly showing the drone being targeted by an anti-aircraft missile, followed by images of the wreckage. The Pentagon has acknowledged the loss of a MQ-9, but has stated that an investigation is underway to determine the crash’s cause.

According to Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea, the drone was allegedly conducting operations against Yemen on behalf of Israel. The incident would mark the second instance of the Houthis successfully downing an MQ-9 Reaper.
