South Korean opposition leader Lee Jae-myung was stabbed in the neck by an unidentified assailant during a visit to Busan. Lee, the head of the main opposition Democratic Party, was attacked as he walked through a crowd of journalists and others after a tour of a proposed airport site. The attacker approached Lee, asking for his autograph, and then stabbed him in the neck. Lee was airlifted to a hospital in Seoul, where he underwent a two-hour operation and was reported to be in recovery. The motive for the attack is under investigation, and police may formally arrest the suspect on attempted murder charges.
