Due to the continuous conflict in Sudan, Greece is sending special forces and aircraft to help with the evacuation of its residents.Â
Greece is deploying special forces personnel and aircraft to assist in the evacuation of its citizens from Sudan, according to Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias. The government’s primary goal is the safety and protection of Greek citizens, with around 150 Greek nationals remaining in Khartoum. Several Greeks have found refuge in the Greek heartland, located in the center of the city where fighting is taking place. The Church of the Annunciation, the offices of the Greek community, the Greek school, and the building of the Greek Embassy are all located within a walled precinct. Greece has issued a travel warning and activated a Crisis Management Unit at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in response to the fighting.Â
