Russian state news agency TASS recently released an interview featuring two foreign volunteers fighting with Russian forces in Ukraine’s Kursk region. The volunteers, one Chinese and one Sri Lankan, are part of the Pyatnashka International Brigade, which is attached to the 87th Rifle Regiment and led by Akhra Avidzba, an officer of Abkhaz origin. The Chinese soldier, identified by his call sign “AK,” and the Sri Lankan soldier, known as “Rana,” shared their motivations for joining the conflict and their experiences in communicating with their counterparts in the brigade.
